About the Project
In September 2018, Dr. Brian J Griffith moved to Rome, Italy to complete his Ph.D. dissertation. Unbeknownst to him, however, Griffith had relocated to one of Rome's most active neo-fascist neighborhoods. Located approximately four kilometers north-west of Vatican City, Balduina – along with a handful of other Roman neighborhoods – has long-since been closely associated with some of the country's most outspoken far-right groups.

Statement on Use of Sources
In developing Where Monsters Are Born (WMAB), co-curators Dr. Brian J Griffith and Dr. Amy King consulted and/or referenced a wide range of secondary sources, including scholarly monographs and journal articles, articles written by both historians and journalists, and Open Source reference articles, including many on Wikipedia. It is these latter sources that we wish to address in this "Statement on Use of Sources."
Open Peer Reviewers
WMAB was thoroughly reviewed by Dr. Luciano Cheles and Dr. Diana Garvin. Dr. Cheles provided co-editors Dr. Brian J Griffith and Dr. Amy King with constructive suggestions regarding the historical accuracy of WMAB’s various group and item descriptions. Dr. Garvin provided WMAB co-editors with helpful observations on the website’s UI and overall functionality.
Acknowledgements
WMAB would not have been possible without the support of the following individuals and organizations. Firstly, thanks to Dr. Brian J Grifith’s wife, Stephanie, who generously supported her husband’s outlandish (and slightly dangerous) project of collecting Italian neo-fascist propaganda from the streets and alleyways of Rome under the cover of nightfall between September 2018 and July of the following year.
