Lotta Studentesca

(Student Struggle)

Lotta Studentesca (Student Struggle, LS) is Forza Nuova's (New Force, FN) neo-fascist youth group. Founded by Roberto Fiore and Massimo Marsello in 1997, FN is an ultranationalist far-right political party known for its extreme positions on issues like same-sex marriage and immigration. The party began as a grassroots division of Movimento Sociale Fiamma Tricolore (Social Movement Tricolor Flame), which was established in 1995 after the dissolution of the Movimento Sociale Italiano (Italian Social Movement, MSI). FN opposes abortion, euthanasia, and same-sex marriage, stitching together "historical Fascism ideals with ultra-Catholic values" (Froio et al. 2020: 26). Similar to its parent organization, LS is "neither of the Right or the Left," the youth group's "Who We Are" statement explains, loosely referencing interwar Italian Fascism's "Third Way" position between Liberal Democracy and Marxism-Leninism, adding: "we are YOUNG REVOLUTIONARIES!" (2023).

This sticker was collected from a metal pole near Cornelio Tacito State Classical Lyceum on Via Giordano Bruno in Rome, which was one of several hotspots for neo-fascist materials between 2018 and the following year.
